Best Wedding Photos of 2017

Another year is drawing to a close and what a year it’s been. Last year I made a decision to only do 20 to 25 weddings this year and I did 24. In 2017 I was very privileged to shoot some incredible weddings in beautiful locations with the most amazing couples.

2017 was also very good to me as far as wedding photography competitions go. I won my first https://www.fearlessphotographers.com award in the last collection which is a huge honour and then that same week got my first http://www.weddingphotographyselect.co.uk/# award too! Through the course of the year I also got 12 photos selected in http://wedaward.com monthly awards and made their list of top 30 wedding photographers in the world. I also got a silver and two bronze awards in the https://oneeyeland.com best wedding photographers in the world competition, one https://weddingphotographersociety.com award, one Apex award and one Ascent award in the monthly https://www.slrlounge.com/awards/ competitions and five top 10 images in various categories in the annual http://admiredinafrica.com awards.

Apart from that I also got to do a presentation at the Admired in Africa conference in Johannesburg which was incredible. As well as getting to share some of my experiences with other photographers it was a great opportunity to learn from the other photographers presentations too and I really feel like my photography has taken a huge step forward thanks to these great workshops hosted by Farhan Achava who is doing and has already done so much for the wedding photography industry in South Africa and Africa in general.

This year I have also been treated to some of the best lenses in the world from http://www.sigmaphoto.co.za and have fallen in love with the new Sigma 135mm f1.8. Art which I’ve only had a couple of months but has made a huge impact on my work. It quickly became my go to portrait lens! It is such a privilege to be an ambassador for Sigma South Africa and I look forward to working more closely with the brand and hopefully doing some workshops too in 2018.

I can’t wait for 2018 and all it has in store!

Merry Christmas to you all and please take a look through a selection of some of my favourite wedding, honeymoon and engagement photos from the year…
